Lawmakers join with virtually every newspaper in the state in call for legislative oversight, public hearings on lottery deal.

Senate Democratic leadership is joining House Democratic leaders in calling on Gov. Tom Corbett to delay consideration of turning the management of the Pennsylvania Lottery over to a foreign corporation until after the Legislature convenes in January.

“This whole thing needs to basically stop and bring it to the public, bring it to the General Assembly. Lets have some hearings,” said Senate Democratic Appropriations Committee Chairman Vincent Hughes of Philadelphia at a news conference on Tuesday. “He needs to be more forthcoming with the people in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania as to how this is going to work.”
